Windows will not show volume icon in tray area

You'll get "Windows cannot display the volume control on the taskbar because the Volume Control program has not been installed. To install it use Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel. " error message.

This would usually be a sndvol32.exe problem.

1. Open cmd, get to c:\windows\system32 and rename sndvol32.exe to sndvol32.old.
2. Type "del c:\windows\system32\dllcache\sndvol32.exe" and hit enter.
3. Type "expand c:\i386\sndvol32.ex_ c:\windows\system32\ndvol32.exe" and hit enter.
